Golfer elbow
A lesion in the common flexor tendon is called golfer's elbow. The resisted wrist flexion is positive, probably together with resisted pronation, although there is no lesion of the pronator teres muscle. (This muscle originates partly from the common flexor tendon ; its contraction pulls at the flexor lesion.)
A golfer's elbow, in comparison with tennis elbow, is generally less painful and less disabling : there are no twinges and the pain does not radiate far. On palpation, two types can be found :
tenoperiosteal junction
This can be found at the front of the medial epicondyle. Do not palpate too far laterally in order to avoid the median nerve. If you palpate too far medially, then you just friction the medial epicondyle itself. Treatment : deep transverse friction or infiltration.
Musculotendinous junction
Level with the inferior edge of the medial epicondyle (= 5-10 mm more distally than the tenoperiosteal site). Treatment : deep transverse friction.
