Jumper's sprain
The jumper's sprain or lateral periostitis
The basic examination is negative but lateral pain can be elicted on the additional test of passive dorsiflexion and eversion or standing with the heel in valgus.
This is the result of a lateral periostitis (contact between the superolateral aspect of the anterior calcaneus border and the inferior and anterior fibula aspect).
This reacts well on infiltration.
