Calcaneofibular ligament friction massage

Friction massage of the calcaneofibular ligament is also frequently needed since it is the second most lesioned structure after a varus ankle sprain

Calcaneofibular ligament friction massageThe homolateral hand keeps the heel in varus. The deep friction massage is the normal execution with the ring finger reinforced by the middle finger, and the thumb acting as a fulcrum. The thumb is put anteriorly on the patient's leg in such a way that the direction of the deep friction massage is towards the patient's heterolateral shoulder. The finger has ligament and bone contact.
